Frequently Asked Questions about supporting AAD
![]() |
An Australian family assists AAD through website maintenance, and the coordination of online donations and CD sales |
Why is AAD's website maintained from outside Cambodia?
AAD could not afford to maintain a website from its own funds, and neither do AAD members have the skills to undertake the project.
This site is therefore maintained and paid for by an Australian family who were so impressed by AAD's endeavours when they first visited Cambodia in 2004 that they promised long term assistance by providing a website hosted in Australia.
How do the funds I donate reach AAD?
Paypal is the only truly affordable method of donating funds to AAD, but Paypal will not allow accounts to be linked to bank accounts in Cambodia, for security and legal reasons.
AAD's Paypal account is therefore linked to a dedicated bank account in Australia set up by our Australian supporters. At regular intervals, funds from donations and the sale of CDs are transferred out of AAD's PayPal account and into the dedicated bank account in Australia. They are then transferred electronically (currently the cheapest means) into AAD's bank account in Siem Reap.
